Archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements &

 Instructions for Volunteers


Thank you for volunteering!  In preparation for working with children, you are asked to comply with the following Archdiocesan volunteer requirements.  This also includes field trips. Here are directions about how to complete the process for each requirement (please keep your original copy for your records).


1.  PA State Police Criminal Record Check:

Please go to the website .  This clearance can be obtained immediately online. 

A copy of this clearance is to be given to the School office. This Criminal Record Check must be updated every 5 years.    


2.  PA Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse Clearance Check:

The Child Abuse clearance can be submitted electronically. Please go to copy of this clearance is to be given to the School office.  This Child Abuse Clearance Check must be updated every 5 years.           


3. Archdiocesan Safe Environment Training (Standards of Ministerial Behavior and Boundaries)

(One-time, 3-hr. session)

This child abuse and prevention class is offered throughout the archdiocese.  For a listing of

4. Mandated Reporter Form (Safe Environment Part II: Mandatory Reporting of Suspected Child Abuse). 

This training is required for all clergy, staff and volunteers who come into contact with children.  This online training provides an overview of PA Child Protective Services law and Archdiocesan policy regarding the reporting of suspected abuse.

Please print and send a copy of the completion certificate to the school office.

5. Disclosure Statement:

        5a.  For those living in PA continuously for 10 years.   Disclosure statement volunteers.pdf

        5b.  Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance: -For those living in PA for less than 10 years                     (Fee $28.75)  Service Code 1KG6Y3

                This must be updated every 5 years.


All volunteers, working with children, must be in compliance with the above requirements.
